BABIES, TODDLERS, PRE-SCHOOLERS  

Nurseries & Pre-Schools & Community Clubs 

Babies & toddlers: Through French songs, rhymes, puppets, signing and books and simple language building activities very young children effortlessly learn French and have fun! The majority of the session is conducted in French but by using structure, repetition, signing, props, and pictures children easily understand and echo sounds, words and songs. Each weekly session lasts 30 minutes and the groups are kept small with up to 12 children.
 
Pre-schoolers 2 to 4 yr old: The emphasis of these sessions is on learning through play.  Through songs, rhymes, games, puppets, signing, craft, drama and books the children effortlessly learn French and have FUN! This structured course of weekly classes contains new, as well as familiar, language and activities  in order to maximize learning and confidence.  Topics include greetings, colours, counting, family, likes and dislikes, animals, weather, seasons, clothing, parts of the body and food.  Focus is placed on fulfilling Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)  goals.  In no time at all children should: 
  • Develop a positive attitude to language learning and different cultures
  • Recite French songs, numbers, sounds and words and use simple phrases
  • Understand  and respond to simple phrases and questions in French
  • Develop imagination and many skills such as listening and communication
  • Make new friends and have  fun!

4 to 11 YEAR OLD

School clubs, curriculum, community clubs

EYFS & KS1 4 to 7 yr: These sessions are similar to our pre-school classes although the activities are designed to appeal to this older age group.  The emphasis of these sessions is on learning through play.  Through songs, rhymes, games, puppets, signing, craft, drama and books the children effortlessly learn French and have FUN! This structured course of weekly classes contains new, as well as familiar, language and activities  in order to maximize learning and confidence.  Topics include greetings, colours, counting, family, likes and dislikes, animals, weather, seasons, clothing, parts of the body and food. The sessions provide an excellent foundation in French  and to meeting the objectives laid out in the  KS2 National Languages Strategy.  In no time at all children should: 
  • Develop a positive attitude to language learning and different cultures
  • Develop French listening and speaking skills:  recite French songs, sounds and words and use simple phrases
  • Understand  and respond to simple phrases and questions in French
  • Develop imagination as well as listening, communication and inter-personal skills. 
  • Make new friends and have  fun!

KS2 7 to 11yr: We continue to use a multi-sensory approach to learning, using a variety of tools: songs, rhymes, games, puppets, signing, craft, drama and books. The sessions develop all four areas of language skills ie. speaking, listening, reading and writing and follow the objectives laid out in the  KS2 National Languages Strategy. This structured course of weekly classes contains new, as well as familiar, language and activities  in order to maximize learning and confidence.  In no time at all children should:
  • Develop a positive attitude to language learning and different cultures
  • Develop French listening,  speaking, reading and writing skills:    Understand  and respond to spoken and written language 
  • Speak with increasing confidence, spontaneity and fluency and developing pronunciation 
  • Write at varying length 
  • Develop imagination as well as listening, communication and inter-personal skills. 
  • Make new friends and have fun!

KS3, KS4, KS5 11 years plus: Our teachers have a wealth of experience in secondary school and can help your children reach their potential.  We continue to use a multi-sensory approach to learning, using a variety of tools. The sessions develop all four areas of language skills ie. speaking, listening, reading and writing preparing children well for their exams. We offer school clubs, curriculum teaching as well as private tuition.
