Why offer French classes at nursery and pre-school?

Learning a new language is a natural and enjoyable process for young children. Introducing children to foreign languages from an early age can help develop their confidence, curiosity and enthusiasm for language learning.

• Children (and staff!) love these lively, interactive and fun sessions, while parents value the opportunity for their children to learn another language.
• FUN FRENCH FOR KIDS is an excellent way to introduce young children to a different language and culture. It can enhance the nursery’s educational offering and provide a competitive edge.
• Some nurseries have also noticed increased attendance on French session days.
• During the sessions, nursery staff have additional opportunities to observe children’s communication, participation and development.
• Learning a foreign language has been a compulsory part of the national curriculum in English maintained primary schools since September 2014, starting in Year 3 (age 7).
• According to the British Council’s 2025 survey, 70% of responding primary schools taught French at Key Stage 2. Fun French for Kids offers a great introduction to the language, helping children build confidence and prepare for future language learning.
• Each session is supported by useful activity sheets for nurseries or parents to practise with children between sessions, if desired.
• Marketing support is also available to nurseries, including Fun French for Kids posters, parent letters, wall display materials and media links.
